The Central Missouri (MO) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated

In September of 2012, approximately 20 ladies residing in Columbia and Jefferson City with a commitment to service and an interest in forming a chapter of The Links, Incorporated gathered at Lincoln University in Soldiers’ Hall. As a result of the initial gathering, The 283 chapter of the Links, Incorporated was chartered April 30, 2016.

The Central Missouri (MO) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated partners with the Boys & Girls Club of the Capital City and has expanded the partnership to include Boys and Girls Club of Columbia to implement its SMART Girls program. The theme, “Building a Healthier Central Missouri Community Through Our Youth” currently has an average of 10-20 girls between the ages of 8-10 in Jefferson City and 10-15 girls between the ages 11-15 in Columbia.  The girls participate in interactive sessions designed under an umbrella approach that incorporates activities across the five program facets: Services to Youth, The Arts, Health and Human Services, National Trends and Services and International Trends and Services.

The most recent service activities includes: canned food drives, benefiting the Food Bank of Central and Northeast Missouri and the Samaritan Center of Jefferson City; supporting the Columbia School System’s Buddy Pack Program; volunteering at the McCambridge Center in Columbia; entertaining at the Bluffs Nursing Home in Columbia; and partnering with Lincoln University for the collection of bottled water for the residents of Flint, Michigan.
