Program Facets.

In the summer of 2017 Boys & Girls Club of Jefferson City approached the chapter with an idea to form an after-school mini-club for 3rd grade girls and boys. Historically, we worked with their SMART Girls program for 3 ½ years as the interest group – Central Missouri Women’s Connection and 1 year as an established Links Chapter. THUS, the chapter’s very own program Healthy Me… Is Easy to Be was launched October 17, 2017.

Healthy Me… Is Easy to Be utilizes The Links, Inc. can you imagine ME? curriculum. The mini-club is targeted for 3rd grade boy and girls ages 8-9 and housed at the Boys & Girls Club of Jefferson City, MO (1105 Lafayette Street).  Why third grade students?  Boys & Girls Club identified a strong need for 3rd grade girls and boys to be provided with a structured after-school program which is educational as well as well as FUN. These students are “roly-poly and rambunctious,” but they are also curious elementary schoolers who are enthusiastic and are willing to try anything. Our Service Delivery Model addressed childhood obesity as the situation/problem which was the catalyst behind the chapters choice to use The Links, Inc. can you image Me? curriculum to establish our own program.

Sessions are the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month from 5:45-6:45 PM. The chapter provides programming to the 3rd grade students during the academic calendar year September/October – April/May.
